XFoneOS Support Commitment for Android Apps

THE ISSUE: ANDROID APP FREEDOM IS UNDER THREAT
In August 2025, Google announced a new requirement scheduled to take effect in September 2026:
Every Android app developer must register with Google before their software can be installed on Android devices.
This applies not only to Play Store apps, but also to:
- Apps distributed through F-Droid
- Open-source applications
- Internal business applications
- Community and church applications
- Hobbyist and personal projects
- Apps shared directly between users
REGISTRATION REQUIRES
✓ Payment of a fee to Google
✓ Agreement to Google's Terms and Conditions
✓ Submission of government-issued identification
✓ Disclosure of application signing credentials
✓ Registration of current and future application identifiers
IF A DEVELOPER DOES NOT COMPLY
Their applications may be blocked from installation on Android devices.
WHY THIS MATTERS
These requirements could significantly impact:
- Independent software developers
- Open-source projects
- Community organizations
- Churches and non-profits
- Educational projects
- Hobbyist developers
- Small businesses developing internal apps
